My name is Almon Townley. However, many simply know me as "Trey." I am a recent college graduate who is still basking in the pride of earning my degree. I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, but lived most of my life across the river in Plaquemine. I love animals, technology, and spending time with my family. I now reside in Baton Rouge with my partner and our dogs, and have been enjoying the change of scenery that the city has offered.
From a time I can barely recall, I have indulged myself in technology. When I was very young, my parents purchased a Gateway PC with Windows 95 installed for the home. I remember spending days installing games, making modifications to those games, troubleshooting the aftereffects of those modifications (sorry, mom), and playing around with various components of the operating system.
My role in my very large family tended to be the "fix it guy" for anything technology-related. My troubleshooting skills were sharpened all throughout my teenage years and my area of expertise included working with desktops, laptops, gaming consoles, home networks, printers, phones, audio systems, and many other electronic devices. Being able to diagnose and resolve technological problems for my family gave me a sense of pride and accomplishment that stuck with me for a long time.
I also had the great fortune of having a grandfather who was keenly interested in computers. My time with him taught me more about PC and internet security than I could have learned in college. Because of him, I am always security-minded, and now tend to spot cybersecurity trouble from a mile away.
What started as a hobby has slowly but surely turned into a career interest. I had the great pleasure of working with Southern University's IT department during my entire academic journey, and I have grown in multiple ways due to my time there. Where I was comfortably familiar with troubleshooting, I am now precise and confident. Where I was vaguely familiar with hardware diagnostics, I am now experienced and ready to learn more.
I seek to find my place in a team that will embrace my technical background and allow me to develop into a respected professional in my field.
